Teaching you how to cope with Uni, write essays, research etc The only real difference was the subject, the overall purpose and layout of each was the same. Others were "creativity and innovation', 'food for thought', 'knowing nature', 'next life' and 'well being'. There is only one compulsory class that is not in my major and I got a choice, I recall telling you I was dong a subject called Australia in Asia, that was my choice for the foundation unit This is to make sure everyone taking the unit gets a fair mark and it doesn't come down to who your tutor is. So with the 4 electives I have some choice but not really since there are only a few electives I can take that would make sense for me to take and the choice will be which subject I think I can pass and will enjoy The first one I already used on Japanese, second one I'm using next semester on Artificial Intelligence.Īlso most (or all, I've never been told they're not only that they are) have the assignments/tests/essays etc cross marked between multiple tutors/professors so if one is easy the other one or 4 may not be.

In my course, I only have 4 electives because I'm doing a double major, some double majors have zero but mine have many units in common so get 4 free electives, so for every unit apart from the 4 electives I get zero choice in lecturer and although I get to choose my tut, the information about who is tuting what class isn't released so you find that out on the day, plus they can change often between years (if its not the lecturer) since tutors are often either from industry or PHD students. 0.0You don't get to choose your teachers really here. It's late and I'm pretty sure I just stopped making sense. It's really fucking annoying knowing that I learned a shitton more, did better work, and put more effort into a class only to get a lower grade than some doofus who picked the "easier teacher". One of the issues in the American school system is the variability in grades given by professors in the same subject, resulting in students "gaming" the system by taking classes with professors who are known to give high grades, even if they don't teach the subject correctly. Then again, I've also had teachers where half of the students pass the class with a B and the other half gets a high A.
